Celebrating our 100th day of VPK!

Good evening!

This week we have been reading “Why Write” and learning how to write different things such as letters, lists, notes, and cards. We’ve read other books about writing a letter and even made a list of directions to playing our favorite classroom game, Doggy Doggy!

This week Tzeeporim 2 ย celebrated a very special day- our 100th day of school! We started our celebration on Tuesday but coming to school dressed like we were 100 years old! We had some GREAT costumes, the kids had a blast dressing up!! The students also brought in great collections of 100 items. We had fruit loops, M&Ms, stickers, and other creative collections! The students also made 100 day hats and jumped to a special 100th day of school video 100 times! (WHEW that was hard!!)

We have worked on starting to recognizing lowercase letters and matching it to the uppercase letter. We played a fun circle time game that we got to pick a mystery letter and then see which of our other friends had a matching letter. The kids had so much fun doing this! We also have been working on the letter Q. We made “Q” Queens and brainstormed some Q words. We will begin to work on sorting items into groups. We will move from sorting basic items to sorting items such as fruits by colors, shapes, and sizes and also sorting coins such as pennies and quarters.

Resources this week:

Monday: On Monday we did a super fun experiment in science! We got to take two pieces of playdough and make a light go on by using a battery! It was so much fun and the kids were so interested and excited to make the lights go on! We also went to Jewish Studies where Morah Rachel introduced us to the story of David and Goliath!

Tuesday: We celebrated our 100th day of school and got a visit from Ms. Liz- whom we love! We played a fun game dealing with ending sounds and rhyming words.

Wednesday: Morah Miriam continued to teach us about David and Goliath. We read a story and got to color our own David and Goliath stick puppets! We also had a very special program for Red Ribbon Week- We had a visitor who taught us about Stranger Danger. The kids did very good at listening to what our visitor had to say and sharing their knowledge about talking to strangers. We talked about how important it is to know their parents names, numbers, and addresses. We also discussed to yell “FIRE” incase of emergency. We even got to have some fun by practicing yelling “FIRE” and boy, did we yell “FIRE” loud! ๐Ÿ˜‰

It will be a great experience and will help to ease some of the Kindergarten jitters that may start coming as VPK is getting closer to being over.
