Kindergarten Here I Come!

Good evening Tzeeporim families and friends!

It was such a bittersweet feeling saying “good-bye” to all of our wonderful students today at their moving up ceremony. We are so happy they have grown and are ready for kindergarten, but we will truly miss them!

This week, we spent a lot of time preparing for the last day of school, reviewing some of the important things we have learned, and even taking a little time to learn some new things! We put the finishing touches on some of our books. We finished collating our ABC book, put together our number book, and we used watercolor paints to decorate our siddur covers.

We played in centers with our friends.

During story time, we read books and magazines with exclamation points in the title! We learned that an exclamation point is used to complete a thought and can show excitement, anger, or surprise. We deduced that in the titles of our texts this week, the exclamation points expressed excitement.

Our Weekly Reader this week was titled “Hello, Big Shark!” We recognized that the title of the magazine had an exclamation point and realized that all of the subtitles in the magazine ended with exclamation points as well. We learned so many new things about sharks by reading the magazine and interacting with the interactive tools online. We learned that sharks are fish, that they have gills, and they move with their fins. In small groups, we worked to complete questions based on a graph of different sharks and the types of food they eat.

We wrote in our journals about what we are most looking forward to in Kindergarten next year. Some of us are excited to learn new things, others are excited to ride the bus, and still others are excited to eat in a cafeteria!

It rained a lot this week, unfortunately, so we found other ways to be active and use our gross motor skills indoors.

We practiced for our “Moving Up Ceremony”! We really wanted to impress our families!

We enjoyed a final circle time and story together on the last day of school. We read Last Day, Hooray!, yet another book with an exclamation point in the title.

We were silly together before heading to our moving up ceremony. We played “Simon Says” and sang “Here We Go Looby-Loo!”

We took one last group picture together in our loft…

…and then we were ready to “Move Up” to Kindergarten.

Congratulations to all of our wonderful students and their fantastic families! We wish you all of the best next year in Kindergarten and know you will all shine!

Todah rabah,
