Due to Rosh Hashanah beginning Wednesday night, Tzeeporim 2 had a very short week together!
Throughout this week and next week our Focus Book will be Mouse Paint. This is an extremely fun and educational book that all the students’ LOVE! This book is about three mice who try and hide from a cat. The mice find three jars of paint: blue, yellow, and red. The mice decide to paint themselves (and the paper) to hide from the cat. They dance and stir in the paints and discover what happens when the paints are mixed together.
This week we began to learn about the primary colors of blue, red, and yellow, and looked into what happens when you mix the colors.
We even got to paint our own pictures like the mice did in the book!
On Monday and Wednesday, we got to visit Morah Rachel, Morah Miriam, and Miss Rucha in Jewish Studies! During Jewish Studies we reviewed what holiday was coming up and what holiday follows Rosh Hashanah. We practiced saying “slicha” (sorry) to our friends, which all the students LOVED doing! We also learned the story of Jonah and the whale and got to eat pomegranate seeds. We learned that pomegranates have 613 seeds, the same number of mitzvot that Hashem gave to us in the Torah!
On Wednesday, we even got to have yummy apples and honey for snack!
Rosh Hashanah celebrates the birthday of the world. Miss Amanda took the opportunity of connecting Jewish Studies and science! During Discovery Studio We were introduced to the elements of our world, in a very child- friendly way. The students were then given the opportunity to make their own world!
If your child stays for Kids Club from 1230-330, they not only get the opportunity to visit the Day School resource teachers, but, they also get the chance to participate in enrichment activities with Miss Silvia and myself. We make sure that these enrichment activities correlate with the story that we are reading and with the standards that we are working on for the month. This week we worked on recognizing shapes and sorting different shapes. We also worked on letter recognition with a fun “Fishing for Letters” game!
Another fun part of our week is cooking with Miss Angela! This week Miss Angela came to us and cooked apples with us. I must say, the cooking project made the preschool halls smell DELICIOUS and went along with learning about Rosh Hashanah!
Take a peek at other pictures of your cuties from this week 🙂
Next week we will continue to read “Mouse Paint”, learn about the letter T, and prepare for Yom Kippur.
Please note: Friday, October 3, is a noon dismissal day. If your child is leaving at noon, we will not have lunch at school. Kids club is available with a reservation. If your child is staying for kids club, please make sure to pack a Kosher, dairy, nut-free lunch.
