Our First Week Together! August 20, 2014

Greetings!

What a wonderful first week Tzeeporim 2 has had together! We began our week with learning the routines of the classroom and what we should do every day when we get into class. (Our routines are to- 1. take out our folder, sign in, wash our hands, complete morning project with Miss Lisa and Miss Carolyn. I know it may seem like a lot but the students will catch up on very fast!)

Monday morning after learning the routines we created a puzzle piece to hang on our bulletin board. This bulletin board reminds the children that we are one classroom family and all fit together perfectly! We read books about the first day of school (and talked about the nerves and excitement we all felt!) and sang some silly songs to make us feel a little more comfortable! We continued our morning with our first circle time of VPK ( I was pleasantly surprised how WONDERFUL your children sat during circle time and how eager they were to participate!) We continued our morning with meeting Morah Rachel, Morah Miriam, and Miss Rucha for Jewish Studies and then enjoying the beautiful weather outside!

On Tuesday, we continued to learn the routines of the classroom and got introduced to four of our classroom centers (blocks, table toys, reading, and dramatic play). Through out the rest of the week we will be introduced to art, sand, math/science, and writing. We will even get a chance to be introduced to our classroom iPads and discover the fun and exciting educational activities that are available to the students!

We will continue to get to know each other this week and get in the routine of VPK. Learning routines can take some time, but your children have already caught on! We will enjoy Jewish Studies with Morah Miriam and Morah Rachel, Music with Miss Zina, and get the opportunity to celebrate Shabbat with our other Tzeeporim and Parparim friends. (Please note: Shabbat takes place at 10 AM on Fridays. We love to have visitors for Shabbat! 🙂 )

Clip Chart: I’m sure your child has come home and told you what “color” they are on on the clip chart. A quick reminder: We all start on green. They can hop their clip up to blue (great day) or purple (outstanding day) or hop their clip down to yellow (think about it) or red (Miss Lisa’s choice). Right now Miss Carolyn and myself are focusing on getting their children used to hopping their clip up and getting excited and motivated to be on good behavior. They all seem to enjoy the satisfaction of moving their clip up and all tell me “My mom/dad is going to be so happy!”.

Other important reminders: Pleas make sure to send in an extra change of clothes for your child. It gets extremely cold in our classroom, so please send in a jacket, just in case :). Please make sure to have your child wear closed-toed shoes to help us stay safe while walking in the hallways and playing on the playground. If your daughter is wearing a dress to school please consider to put on shorts underneath the dress : )
