After a fantastic first day of school, we enjoyed a wonderful first week together in Tzeeporim. We were rocking in our VPK shoes, as we practiced our morning routine each day, and enjoyed various morning activities. We developed our fine motor skills by cutting in straight, curved, and zig zag lines.
We spent time in centers, and worked both individually and with friends.
This week, during story time we read two different books by Eric Litwin. The first book, was Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes and the second book, was Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes. We began working on pre-reading strategies by pointing out the title of the books, and during reading, we analyzed the clues and made predictions about what would happen next as we read.
We spent time on the playground.
We also enjoyed a plethora of engaging resource activities. In Jewish Studies, Morah Rachel and Morah Miriam taught us the phrases “shalom” (hello, goodbye, and peace) and “boker tov” (good morning.) We also learned prayers and started decorating our own siddurs (prayer books.)
In P.E. with Ms. Jackie, we followed two-step directions, and worked on balancing. We also did parachute play to enhance our gross motor skills.
In Gardening, we read the book Growing Vegetable Soup. We helped pull weeds in the garden to prepare to plant fall seeds, and got to smell some delicious rosemary. Ms. Amanda also showed us a baby skink.
In Music, we sang and danced to lots of music, including the “Hokey Pokey” and “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.” At the end of music class, Ms. Zina played a few musical compositions by famous composers, including some by Tchaikovsky and Kabalevsky. She asked students if they knew the mood of the pieces and the composer. Our amazing class remembered so many of the compositions and composers from music class last year! It was very impressive!
We culminated our fantastic, first week together by welcoming Shabbat.
We are looking forward to another great week of learning and fun this coming week! Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns at email@example.com.
