Tzeeporim welcomed the last week of the October with reading “The Itsy Bitsy Spider”. Our letter of the week this week is the letter P.
Thank you to Isaac’s mom who was ourMystery Reader last week and to Mara’s mom and sister who read to us for Shabbat! We love having visitors in our room! 🙂
Take a peek at a few pictures of how we ended our week together last week:
Now onto the fun we are having this week 🙂 :
Skills: We will continue reviewing rhyming words and counting the sounds we hear in words. We will think of letter P words and search for the letter P during our learning. We will work on patterns and sequencing events in a story. We will also look at details in a story and make connections to other stories that we have read.
Our Monday morning began with introducing our theme of the week- spiders! We created spiders with our hands and discussed how spiders have eight legs. We continued with reviewing our alphabet song and discussing the sounds that each letter makes. The students’ then led a discussion of what they knew about spiders.
During center time students worked with Miss Carolyn to create a Veterans Day theme for our preschool art gallery, while other students worked with me to finish our handprint spiders and use our fine motor skills to write the word spider – I was so impressed on the students handwriting and they were so proud of themselves for writing so fabulous!
During Jewish Studies, Morah Rachel and Miss Rucha began to teach us about the first Jew-Abraham. We learned songs and listened to stories about why we consider Abraham as the first Jew.
Our week continued on Tuesday with continuing to learn about spiders. We read a book that we all loved, “Little Spider’s First Web“.
We also learned three new vocabulary words- more than, less than, and same amount as. We practiced these words by playing a sorting game with our shapes! We practiced counting our sounds and watched an educational video on spiders and learned some new facts about these creepy, crawly, creatures.
During center time students worked to finish patterns with the characters from “The Itsy Bitsy Spider”.
Wednesday was a big day for Tzeeporim- we had our second buddy visit of the year! During our visit with our buddies we had two fall-themed activities. The first activity was to do a fall scavenger hunt with our buddies on the playground. We looked for different things including a stick shaped like a ‘y’, a ladybug, and a spiderweb! The other activity that we did with our buddies was stamping fall leaves. We created a large card with our stamps that we will be sending to River Garden as a Thanksgiving greeting from the Galinksy Academy. I could see the pure happiness in the children when they were with their buddies. They had a wonderful time together and both the VPKers and the buddies are already looking forward to next time!
Tzeeporim finished our Wednesday by completing our letter P for our alphabet book. We decorated our P’s with pink, purple, polka dots.
The rest of our week will be filled with learning and fun. We will continue to learn about spiders and the letter P. We will work on counting syllables and working with our new vocabulary words of more than, less than, and same amount as. We will visit with Miss Zina for music and end our week welcoming Shabbat with our friends. Jordyn will be our Ema and Sam will be our Aba.
