This week Tzeeporim 2 has been learning all about our favorite amphibian, the frog!We started out our week by reading “Jump Frog, Jump!” and other books including “Froggie Goes to Bed” and “Poindexter”. The students love our Focus Book of the week, so we have been reading it a lot! The book allows the children to be interactive and answer the question “How did that frog get away?”…”Jump Frog, Jump!” It is a wonderful book to help us learn more about environments, habitats, and litter.
During writing this week, we have continue to work on labeling our pictures and writing the sounds that we hear in words. We drew a picture of our favorite animal that was in the book and told a sentence about their picture to be written down by Ms. Lisa. It was a hoot to see what the students said was going on in their pictures : )!
Through out this week we have also been practicing our “Kindergarten Skills” of recognizing sight words, word wall words, and practicing our onset and rime (such as frog- /fr/ og…frog!)
We have also begun to work on simple addition and subtraction. We played a group game with frogs on lily pads and what it means to add and take away. We have also continued to discuss the number zero and what it means.
We have learned some fun songs and poems about our Focus Book. Our favorite is the poem, “Jump frog jump. You better get away. All of the animals are after you today!”
Our week has been spent preparing for our Passover Seder. The students have done a great job with learning their parts and learning the songs that we will sing. They are so proud of the Seder and I hope that you all will be able to make this special day! (April 8 at 10:30 AM : ) )
We had a very exciting Science class with Mr. Greg’s friend Ms. Kelly. We got to learn all about solar energy and play with small solar powered cars! We also got to see how solar powered paper works with placing leaves on a special piece of paper and seeing the leaves shapes on the paper. It was a wonderful learning experience!
We got to enjoy P.E. with Coach Marla, who brought some fun new toys for us to play with!
The weather has been gorgeous this week and we have definitely been enjoying spending some time outside before the “April showers” come!
