This week we have been busy preparing for our Passover Seder and Spring Break. It is hard to believe that we are almost through with our VPK year together!
We started off our week by reading our Focus Book- “The Baby BeeBee Bird”. We will be learning all about zoo animals this week and will continue learning about zoo animals when we get back from Spring Break. We have made giraffes from our hand prints and we will draw our favorite zoo animals and sound out the name of the animal on our paper!
We got a chance to spend the morning with Ms. Kelly, one of Mr. Greg’s Science teachers, and learn all about ways to make vehicles moves. The children got to pump air into a car and see how far they could make their car travel. They had a blast! 🙂
On Monday we also had the pleasure to Skype with our friend, Hanan! It was Hanan’s birthday, so his mom and I planned to Skype together to wish him a happy birthday. The students were all SO excited to see Hanan and get to talk to him! What an amazing experience it was, I definitely think it was special not only to Hanan, but to the other students as well!
Through out the week we continued to prepare for Passover. We colored our Hagadah and finished up a few last minute Passover projects! 🙂 We also got a special treat of Morah Rachel and Morah Miriam coming in to our room to search for the chametz and show us how to clean the bread from our houses. The students loved this and were so interested on watching them use a candle and spoon to clean the bread up!
On Tuesday, we had our Model Seder. The kids all did so wonderful! Thank you to all the family members and friends who joined us for this special day! The students were so proud of them selves and were so happy to see all of their loved ones watching them!
Through out the rest of the week we will get to see our VPK buddies, enjoy PE with Coach Rebecca, and celebrate Shabbat together before Spring Break.
We will also continue to learn about zoo animals and read some other zoo books. We will learn about the letter “G” and complete a sight reading about Spring!
What to look forward to after Spring Break:
After Spring Break we will continue to prepare for Kindergarten and review what we have learned through out VPK. We will work on our letter sounds and number recognition. We will continue to review letters and work on reading sight words. We will also practice our fine motor skills and practice cutting. It will be a time to review and for me to see what I can help the students with before I send them off to Kindergarten!
Please note: Starting this week and continuing to after Spring Break I will be pulling students to complete the VPK State Assessment. Unfortunately, due to the busy schedule, I will not know exactly what days I will pull students. But, please talk with your children about doing their best on the assessment. We want to show you, the parents, how much of a smarty pants they are and how far they have come in VPK! 🙂
