Our second week of VPK is off to a great start!
Our week highlights:
We started our week with Mr. Greg. We went on a nature walk and got to look at different animals homes! Our students were wonderful at finding animal homes that are right in our own school!
We also got to discuss Rosh Hashanah with Morah Rachel and Morah Miriam.
Tuesday we got to do some indoor recess with a wonderful program Ms. Shereen bought for us- the kids LOVED it!
This week we have been learning about our families. We have been discussing how our families are similar and different. We have also been reading different books and talking about vocabulary, such as mom and dad, that deal with families that we added to our word wall!
I have also started working with the students one on one. I have been able to see where they are with writing their names, cutting, and letter, number, and shape recognition. This means that teacher centers are right around the corner! We will start teacher centers next week. These centers give me the opportunity to work with students in small groups, while other students are working with Miss Gabrie or, working on an individual activity. Once things get started you will start to see tremendous growth in your student!
Please make sure to pack an extra set of clothes for your child to keep at school in case of an accident.
We will be making our family book THIS week, please make sure to send in pictures for your child’s family page.
Our playground has been seemed to attract mosquitos lately. If you would like, stop in the office to pick up a form from Ms. Ivy to leave bug spray at school. Miss Gabrie and my self cannot apply any type of bug spray (or medicine) with out you providing the medicine and filling out the form.
Next week is a very short week. We do not have school on Monday, September 2. School will be in session for a full day on Tuesday, September 3. Wednesday September 3 is noon dismissal- *Kid’s Club is available on this day *. We will not have school on Thursday or Friday in observance of Rosh Hashanah.
Please do not forget to check your child’s Daily Folder. Important information is sent home. I also will keep you updated on how your child’s behavior was for the day. Remember it is OKAY to have an off day on occasion- it happens! This folder is to help there be open communication between your child, your self, and myself. Please feel free to contact me via e-mail or telephone any time.
** Through out the next week we will begin the VPK state assessment testing. Please make sure your child gets a good night sleep, eats a good breakfast, and comes to school to do their best!**
