This week we have been learning more about the season of Fall! We started off our week with reading Clifford’s “The Big Leaf Pile”. While reading this book we have had the opportunity to be introduced to Main Characters, which we will be working on for the next few weeks.
Our art crafts this week have included coloring fall trees and making leaves with our thumbprints. We will also decorate leaves with glitter and enjoy having the season of Fall in our classroom!
What are we learning about this week?
Reading: We will be reading more Fall books. We will be introduced to main characters and discuss the who, what, when, where, and why of stories. This will be a very basic introduction of this skill!
Math: We will be working on discussing the number zero and what it means. We will also work on making patterns and counting items. While counting items we will work on identifying the first and last number of the set.
We will also make up some fun addition and subtraction problems with our friends. Again this will be a very BASIC introduction! Students will have the opportunity to see what happens when friends are added and taken away in some fun real world scenarios. Please work with your child on number recognition from 0-15.
Alphabet recognition- We will be working on the letter A this week. As I explained to most of you during our conferences, our alphabet works is different from the letter introduction that was given in Parparim. We will be working on not only recognizing the letters, but, also with recognizing the letter sound. This is definitely a skill to be practiced at home!
Morah Rachel and Morah Miriam have started getting us prepared for our Hanukah program. Can you believe Hanukah is in a few weeks, WOW!
P.E- We had a BLAST playing with a HUGE parachute with Coach Rebecca!
Music- We always have a great time with Miss Zina. We are getting used to the songs and recognizing classical music and the composers of the music!
Science- Mr. Greg and Ms. Melanie taught us about gravity. The students got to have part of a water bottle, a ping pong ball, and a straw to explore what would happen. We also got to play with bubbles and see what happens when we blow on them!
Shabbat: Our Ema this week will be Vivi and our Aba this week will be Itamar!
I have stopped most of you during carpool, but, please be aware that a fever is going around our class. Please keep an eye on your child to see if they are showing any signs of having a fever. Please remember your child cannot return to school until they have been fever free for at least 24 hours!
With the weather rapidly changing, depending on the day!, please send a set of extra clothes to school that is appropriate with the seasons. This will help out tremendously if your child has to change clothes on a cold day so that they have appropriate clothing.
Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
Thank you and your child for another wonderful week of VPK!
