This week has been short, but eventful for VPK 2! Most of our time has been devoted to practicing for our Shoobee Doobee Shabbat and making gifts for our families for this special day! Don’t forget our Shoobee Doobee Shabbat will take place on January 24 at 11 AM in the Chapel! If you have any questions about this day, please let me know! 🙂
Our Focus Book this week is Silly Sally by Audrey Wood! The students have loved this book! It is a silly, fun book that includes fun rhymes in it! Along with this book, we have been enjoying other books by Audrey Wood. Today we read “Rude Giant” which was a book about rude giants who had to be taught how to be polite and kind!
We have been practicing rhyming and segmenting words. We have also started working on labeling our pictures. Keep an eye out on our classroom board outside our room for these great pictures! The students had to draw a picture of a trip that they went on, like Silly Sally, and label the pictures. They did a great job with this!!
Our letter of the week this week is the letter “B”. We will be making “B” birds and brainstorming on the “B” words that we know!
Our 100th day of school is coming up very soon! (9 more days!!) We will be celebrating our 100th day of school on Tuesday, February 4!
On this day the students will be asked to do two things to celebrate being 100 days smarter:
1. Dress like they are 100 years old (This is always a hoot to see!!)
2. Bring in a collection of 100 items- this can be anything that the child wants to bring in, such as pennies, buttons, cherrios, etc.
We will celebrate being 100 days smarter on this day and have a day full of celebrating and fun!
January 23: Shema at Bedtime- 6:30 pm. This is a great night that all students always enjoy! The students will hear a story from PJ Library, decorate a pillow case, and enjoy a bedtime snack! 🙂
