WOW! What a busy few weeks we have had!! Last week our class read “The Humongous Cat” by Joy Crowley. We read all about different silly animals. A main skill that we focused on last week was listening for directions. We played fun games that we had to listen to directions on what to do! We also have been singing songs about recognizing body parts, such as head, shoulder, elbow, tongue, etc!
Keep a look out for our author and illustration pictures that will be posted in the room! The students got to paint a picture of anything they want and got to tell the story behind it! The stories that will be posted are their exact words- what a HOOT some of these stories are! 🙂
We also are reviewing our letters to practice letter recognition and letter sounds. The past two weeks we have focused on the letter “D”! We made dogs out of the letter D and brainstormed together on words that begin with this letter!
Another skill that we are starting to strongly focus on is learning ordinal numbers. We are learning about first, second, and third!
This week we are reading “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” and what a FUN week we will have with this! We are going to make a lot of spider crafts, make spider cupcakes, and learn some new spider songs! We will keep reviewing the letter D and move on to a new letter next week.
I have been pulling students out of class to complete a developmental assessment. We will review this assessment at parent/teacher conferences, but, if your child says they played some games with Miss Lisa, this is what they are referring too! The assessments are based on their birth date and they are tested accordingly.
Jewish Studies: Morah Rachel and Morah Miriam have taught us SO much about the Torah portions that are being read each week! We have learned all about Abraham and Sarah, their son Issac, and his wife Rivkah.
Music: We love going to Miss Zina each week! The kids always have a GREAT time singing and dancing with her!
P.E.: Coach Rebecca provides so much each and every week for your student! They play games but they are also growing with their fine and gross motor skills.
Science: Mr. Greg led a FABULOUS super hero day last week! I LOVED seeing all of your children dressed up as their favorite super hero’s! They got to learn about the super power of ice and this week we got to learn about the super power of fire.
Birthdays: October has been FULL of birthday celebrations for our class! So far we have celebrated Hank, Julia, and Hannah turning FIVE! This week we get to celebrate Aaron’s birthday. A happy birthday to all of our October babies. Thank you to all of the parents who have let us celebrate with you!
November 1- Conference Day. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
